The staff at Leo House made our stay seamless and enjoyable. The room was clean, the front desk was responsive, the kitchen staff were friendly and accommodating. Probably the best complimentary hotel breakfast I’ve experienced. Super fast, reliable wifi. A gorgeous little courtyard garden and outdoor dining space. And it’s all a hundred feet from the subway. You simply can’t find a better deal in Manhattan.

In terms of the accommodations, you will either love or hate it. It is a quaint old catholic boarding house. It is not the Ritz Carleton. The plumbing is a little finnicky but the pressure was good and plenty of hot water. Just to clarify: each room has a toilet but most rooms do not have a shower or bath. There are shared showers on each floor. This doesn’t mean you literally share a shower. The door locks and it’s a completely private space, you just have to wait your turn.

If I were to sum up the Leo House experience, it’s like coming to the big city to stay with your hospitable catholic great aunt: it’s an old house and you might think some of her rules are weird, but the sheets are clean and she doesn’t care if you stay out late. Just don’t bring any of the riffraff home with you or she’ll box your ears lol.

Thanks to the staff and management for running such a unique place and for your generous hospitality. I hope I have the chance to visit y’all again soon.

We loved the Leo House! I would stay here anytime I am in New York. If you are looking for a clean, no fuss, central hotel, it is perfect. The shared showers are individual washrooms that weren’t busy. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful (Amber was awesome). And the location is great, it is a 5 second walk to the subway station that can get you anywhere. Neighbourhood is also fun and safe. Walking distance to lots of cool stuff. The free breakfast is great as well – They had eggs, bagels, bacon, etc. Overall a great stay – we stayed at a Hyatt hotel for our last night in NY and I liked The Leo House better.

Terrific value! Will stay again! Clean, friendly, safe, comfortable, and awesome location. I was very pleased with my stay! Breakfast was included and served in a comfortable dining room. It is a dated building, but that is totally fine with me. My bed linens were clean and comfortable. Towels were also clean and plentiful. I had a room with an en suite bathroom and TV. It was at the front of the building, but I wasn’t bothered by any noise. Such a terrific value! 

First time visit to New York and I am so happy we found this place. It is clean, comfortable, close to subways and most affordable (no resort fees)! Staff were helpful and breakfast Monday to Saturday was a bonus. We would happily stay here again.

We have had such a pleasant week’s stay at the Leo house hotel, the staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive.The complimentary breakfast sets us up for the day  and there are good facilities,ie: a lounge, laundry room and a good WiFi connection. The location is really good, easy access for everything, most days we have walked to our destination; Battery park, MOMA, Nation history museum, 5th Avenue.etc. we really recommend the Leo house.
